In this seminar, entitled ‘Society and language change’, we take a closer look at various aspects of extra-linguistic conditioning of the change at different language levels, e.g. the lexicon and semantics, morphosyntax, phonology and orthography. The participants of the seminar will write their MA theses within the area of historical sociolinguistics and sociopragmatics, and investigate language change with regard to either distant or quite recent times in the history of the English language, depending on individual interests.

Aims of the course: (1) To acquaint the trainee
with the methods of teaching English as a foreign language; (2) To revise basic notions
and ideas underlying the processes involved in learning and teaching a foreign
language within the communicative approach; (3) To revise the basic
principles and logic behind planning, organizing and conducting the teaching
process; (4) To make the trainee revise
and extend their knowledge of ways of teaching language subsystems (grammar,
vocabulary, pronunciation) and skills (receptive and productive);
(5) To further
develop in the trainee a reflective and flexible approach toward the learning
and teaching process.

Tytuł seminarium: Technology in learning and teaching English as a
foreign language. Głównym celem kursu na drugim roku seminarium magisterskiego jest umożliwienie studentom dokończenia prac magisterskich. Studenci zapoznają się z literaturą przedmiotu, pod kierunkiem promotora opracowują rozdziały pracy zawierające przegląd literatury, a także przeprowadzają własne projekty badawcze, zbierają i analizują dane, a także przedstawiają je w ostatnim, empirycznym rozdziale pracy. Formy pracy na zajęciach: konsultacje, dyskusje, prezentacje.
