Translation studies: what do they tell us about translations and translators?
In this proseminar students become acquainted with the overview of the two dynamically developing approaches in Translation Studies: product and process-oriented research.
The course starts with an introduction to Descriptive Translation Studies. The students will get acquainted with the key developments in Corpus Translation Studies (focusing on translation features) and Translation Process Research (zooming in on translators’ behaviour).
The aim is to help students learn how to approach academic papers critically and to translate the implications of translation research outcomes to some aspects of the translation practice.
