History of US Literature is a historically-grounded course designed to survey the main trends and ideas in American literature. The syllabus is structured chronologically to facilitate a better understanding of both the inner tensions and the continuity of American literary tradition. In this semester, we begin in Realism and trace the history of US literature all the way to the end of the 20th century.
