This course aims to provide a comprehensive survey of the history of American literature from the Puritans to contemporary times. It will be based primarily on close reading of the canonical texts listed in the obligatory reading list, which will be discussed in class. The course will try to show the evolution of the main literary movements and genres in the historical development of American literature. The course will also be conducted through questions and points of discussion that will appear on Moodle and Microsoft Teams.
