In this course, students broaden their knowledge about the learning and teaching of English as a foreign language, including a more theoretical orientation underlying the topics discussed. Students are thus encouraged to notice links between the theories of lerning and teaching, and didactic procedures used in lessons. The topics include L2 teaching methods, the development of L2 skills and subsystems, learner and teacher autonomy, assessment, CLIL and ESP, the intercultural component and key competencies in L2 instruction. Another aim of the course is to invoke a reflective approach in the teacher-trainees in relation to their own teaching practice.
