Week 1:     Popular image of Greece    . Greece as a cradle of Western Culture
Week 2: Image of Greece created by tourism organizations. Scientifi c and cultural tourism: fi ction
or true?    
Week 3: Popularity of Greek music: reality or creation of media? Image of Greece in cinema.    
Week 4: On the contrary: Greeks and Greece in Zbigniew Herbert’s poetry and essays.        
Week 5: Greek artists on exile, how they were portrayed. Final remarks.
              

Module aim

An outline of popular stereotypes of Greeks, existing in postwar culture, esp. in advertisement,
fi lms. On the contrary the creation of Greek in Polish contemporary poetry.
Student should understand and critically evaluate role of mass culture and advertisement in
creating of image of modern Greeks.
